A creative collaboration

Floating Art

A float session can be fuel for creativity. We’re inviting artists and musicians to experience the quiet of the pod, then make something inspired by what they find there.

The artworks below come from artists who explored the creative possibilities of floating. Each piece is credited to its artist.

How the project works

Simple Float offers participating artists two complimentary sessions: an introductory float and a longer creative session. The first session is a chance to get comfortable with the environment. The second gives you time to settle in and explore your ideas.

After your creative session, begin work within 24 hours and send us an early sketch. Finished paintings should be square, 30 × 30 cm. The artwork stays yours; by taking part, you give Simple Float permission to reproduce an image of it.

We hope to bring together 100 works in a 100-page art book, and to display the collection at the studio and in future exhibitions.

Two complimentary sessions

Introductory float · 60 minutes

Try a new, quiet environment and get used to the experience. There’s no obligation to continue if floating isn’t for you.

Creative float · up to 2.5 hours

Set aside an unhurried afternoon or evening to float, then follow your ideas into a piece of work.

Artists and musicians

Curious what a float might inspire?

We’re looking for curious people and visual artists of all experience levels. You don’t need to have sold work or be a professional. The current project focuses on visual art, but musicians, dancers and other creatives are welcome to get in touch.

Tell us a little about yourself and include a link to your portfolio. The Simple Float team will follow up to discuss your work and the project.
